Thanksgiving in Aspen—A Special Time of Year

Thanksgiving is here, and this is always a very special time of year in Aspen. This holiday coincides with the beginning of the Aspen/Snowmass ski season for Aspen and Snowmass Mountains! Plus, there are other fun traditions and events that happen throughout the Roaring Fork Valley as we kick off our holiday season.

Aspen Ski Season Updates

Despite some changes, I am looking forward to the 2020-2021 Aspen ski season. It’s been an unusual year and there will be strict COVID-19 precautions in place, but the great news is that all the local resorts will be open and offering full access to skiing, snowboarding and uphilling, with some new innovation in place to try and create safe resort amenities. Of course, social distancing measures will be in place and face coverings will be required in public areas. It will be a small price to pay to enjoy another beautiful Aspen winter season and the opportunity to get out on the slopes with fresh powder on the mountains!

I encourage you to read my recent blog article about “What to Expect from the 2020-2021 Aspen Ski Season.”

Aspen Thanksgiving Dining Options

As for Thanksgiving dinner, there are plenty of different ways to celebrate the holiday safely while enjoying some of the best cuisine that world-class Aspen restaurants have to offer. Here are some of my recommendations:

The Little Nell—The Little Nell is an Aspen Thanksgiving tradition like no other. You can order a full Thanksgiving meal to-go, handcrafted by their culinary team. They are also offering limited Thanksgiving dining options at the resort, including dinner service at Element 47 and Ajax Tavern. Click here to learn more.

Hotel Jerome—Hotel Jerome will also be offering full Thanksgiving meal orders to take home (what they call “Take the Jerome Home.”). The $600 meal serves 8-10 people, but orders must be placed by Friday, November 13th at 12pm. They are also offering four-course family style Thanksgiving meals at Prospect. Chef Rob has put together a very special menu this year. Click here to learn more.

Mawa’s Kitchen—For a delicious Thanksgiving feast that you can take home, check out the Aspen Thanksgiving Take Out menu at Mawa’s Kitchen. Enjoy some delicious homestyle cuisine made by top local chefs and one of Aspen’s greatest gems- Mawa herself! Click here to learn more.

Health & Wellness

Warm up your gratitude and your body before you hit the slopes, or burn off your Thanksgiving feast! Try out O2’s new virtual studio to get a full physical and spiritual workout from the comfort of your own home. You can also break a sweat with Jane of Aspen Shakti’s new Body Practice. This 8-part series offers a fun and simple collection of practices to help families come together and individuals find a sense of spiritual wellness during these unusual times.

I hope you and yours enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving. Whether you are able to get together with the entire family or you are celebrating with a safer, smaller gathering than usual, this is the time for all of us to give thanks for the good things we do have in life. I am very grateful for my friends, family, clients and business partners, and to live in a place as incredible as Aspen.

Happy Thanksgiving!
