Summer Traditions Returning to Aspen

To say 2020 was a strange year would be the understatement of the century. Although it was full in Aspen last summer, we missed the community traditions and events that we all know and love. It’s so exciting to see some of these activities and events returning to our wonderful piece of paradise!

I encourage everyone to check out the Aspen Chamber of Commerce’s Events page for news, updates and information about things happening throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.

Red Brick Center for the Arts

There are many cool things going on at the Red Brick this summer. They have some amazing sculptures on the lawn this month and there will be a special Koko Bay exhibit on display in the West Gallery from June through October. Click here to learn more about Red Brick events, exhibits and art programs.

Buttermilk Summit Express

Full weekend lift access will be open on the Buttermilk Summit Express until June 20. It’s a great way to travel up the mountain for a variety of activities like hiking, biking or just some of the most magnificent views around. Click here to see current lift status.

Garden Tours at The Little Nell

The Little Nell is known for many things, including their beautiful summer garden tours. They will begin for this season June 11 and be conducted every Friday afternoon through Labor Day Weekend. The complimentary tours are open to all. Learn more.

Basalt Half Marathon

You can check out my previous article about the 44th Annual Basalt Half Marathon. It takes place this Sunday, June 6th and registration is open until the morning of the race. This is an annual tradition we are all glad to see back this year!

Aspen Fringe Festival

The 13th Annual Aspen Fringe Festival will be held June 11-12 at the Wheeler Opera House. This is a unique and entertaining event showcasing the talents of many up-and-coming artists and creative talents. Learn more and get your tickets here.

Aspen Saturday Market

One great local tradition that has returned this summer is the Aspen Saturday Market. It will be held every Saturday from June 12 until October. Local food vendors set up shop along Hyman Avenue and Hopkins Avenue. It is a farmer’s market and food court all in one! Learn more.

These are just some of the events and activities starting up in June. I look forward to summer this year and there is going to be so much to do and enjoy. This is what Aspen life is all about!
