It is so great to see outdoor events happening in the Aspen area. Some of these are traditions that Roaring Fork Valley residents and visitors look forward to every year, and they are great for the local economy. The Freeski and Snowboard World Championships were amazing in March. We have the 27th Annual Race for the Pass cycling event next weekend. And of course, runners are looking forward to the 44th Annual Basalt Half Marathon & Relay to be held on Sunday, June 6!
About the Basalt Half Marathon
This is a running event that draws participants of all ages and skill levels. The course traverses approximately 13.1 miles along Frying Pan Road and ends up in Lions Park in Basalt. Over the course of the race, runners will descend over 1,000 feet in elevation. There will be three aid stations along the way and each mile is clearly marked.
There will be an individual race, along with a relay race where two runners can participate as a team to complete the course. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Basalt High School Cross Country program, so the race is for a wonderful cause.
Registration Information
Individual registration is $75 if you pre-register online or $80 if you sign up the day of the race. Relay team registration is $100 with pre-registration or $130 if you sign up that day.
Here is the online registration link, as well as the downloadable entry form you can print and mail in with your payment.
Day-of registration will take place at Lions Park before all competitors are loaded in buses to the starting line at the top of the road.
The top 3 finishers in each group will receive rewards. There will be age groups for every 10-year increment, including 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 & Over. Relay teams will be divided into male, female and coed categories.
