In case you didn’t already know, today (December 8, 2020) is “Colorado Gives Day.” This is a great time of the year to give back to the causes that resonate with you—whether locally or globally. Aspen has an amazing number of non-profit organizations that make a difference throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, as well as across the globe!

Other Non-Profits to Consider

I would also like to use this opportunity to highlight a few more Aspen non-profit organizations that stand out for me. These are great local and international organizations that you may want to consider on Colorado Gives Day.

Aspen Family Connections—This family resource center was established to connect Pitkin County children, youth and families with a wide range of community resources, including economic assistance, educational support, legal advice and emotional counseling. Click here to learn more and contribute.

Action in Africa—This organization runs a thriving community center in Uganda that is helping women and children with education and other life-changing resources. They are holding a live-streamed Winter Fundraiser on December 19, 2020. Click here to learn more, buy tickets or contribute auction items for the fundraiser.

Habitat for Humanity—We all know the great things that Habitat for Humanity does all over the country, including right here in the Roaring Fork Valley and other parts of Colorado thanks to the Basalt-Vista chapter. You can never go wrong supporting this wonderful organization. Click here to learn more and contribute.

Aspen Hope Center—This organization is focused on suicide prevention and strives to be a beacon of hope and healing for those dealing with emotional distress. Click here to learn more and contribute.

Aspen Homeless Shelter—Our local homeless shelter can always use your help, especially during the holiday season. Covid-19 has really hampered this organization’s ability to provide food, shelter and medical care to the area’s homeless, so it is an excellent charity to support on Colorado Gives Day. Click here to learn more and contribute.

Aspen Center for Environmental Studies—ACES is an organization focused on preserving Aspen’s natural resources and understanding our impact on the local environment. From sustainable agricultural solutions to forest protection programs, they use research and education to put nature first. Click here to learn more and contribute.

Haiti Children—This organization was created to give the children of Haiti a better future. Click here to learn more and contribute.

Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado—Last but certainly not least, I have to recommend our local animal rescue organization. They do amazing work to rescue and rehabilitate animals with the ultimate goal of getting them into loving homes. The holiday season is the best time to adopt a new pet, or you can donate to support their cause. Click here to learn more and contribute.

I encourage everyone to do their part and make an effort to donate, volunteer or contribute resources to any of the organizations above—or any other non-profit organizations that mean something to you and your family! Giving doesn’t only have to be on one day a year, but it’s an annual reminder that we can all give back and make a positive difference in our local and global communities.

Thank you and happy holidays!
